Alan Khazei is a candidate for Congress in the 4th District of Massachusetts. He is an American social entrepreneur who got his start creating service organizations that bring Americans from all walks of life together to solve problems.
Alan is the founder of City Year, a national (and now international) youth service organization which has been referred to as the domestic Peace Corps. He has worked extensively with congressional leaders and four United States Presidents advocating for social change. In 2002 Alan was instrumental in organizing a successful effort to save funding for Americorps, our national service program.
Alan is also the founder of two organizations built to enhance political collaboration; Democracy Entrepreneurs, which promotes new change agents who are inventing new ways to engage people in our democracy and Be the Change, Inc., a Boston-based group dedicated to building national coalitions of non-profit organizations and citizens that promoted advancing issues of national service, fighting poverty and empowering veterans.
